Capitol Hill Ocean Week Redesign
Capitol Hill Ocean Week (CHOW) is the nation’s premier ocean and Great Lakes policy conference hosted by the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation. In 2025, I acted as the design lead in revamping the conferences website.
How do you develop the visual identity for a site when its core brand changes year over year? In the case of this site, each component was designed to be incredibly flexible and as easy as possible for the client to adapt the site as needed. Background images were used to integrate the years photography choices and textures throughout the site. Headlines were designed to fit a myriad of typographic styles as the font is changed year over year.
We tied the visual design of this site back to the ocean and wave-makers that attend CHOW in every page. Wave textures adorn image collages meant to mimic bubbles rising in a blue sea. A unique, wave shaped footer guides users to the bottom of the page.
